PAT Testing
PAT Testing or portable appliance testing, is an important part of any health and safety at work policy, and is a legal requirement.
The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places the legal obligation in the following circumstances:
Various appliances require PAT Testing include;
• Portable appliances such as a vacuum cleaner, toaster, food mixer;
• Moveable equipment such as an air conditioning unit;
• Hand-help equipment including hair dryers;
• Stationary equipment and appliance such as fridges and freezers;
• Fixed equipment such as bathroom heaters;
• Information technology products, including PC's, photocopiers and printers;
• Built-in appliances such as cookers, which need extra protectional from electrical shocks.
