Over the next few years, light bulb recycling will become as important as recycling paper is today, and all business now have legal obligations under environmental legislation. Failure to fulfil comply with these regulations can result in prosecution and substantial fines.
On the 1st July 2007 WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations came into force. The objective of the WEEE Regulations is to encourage the re-use or recycling of electrical and electronic equipment that has reached the end of it's useful life and, in such was as to reduce the impact of waste on the environment.
There are a variety of lamps which are covered by the WEEE legislation, and include gas discharge lamps such as fluorescent tubes, energy saving lamps, mercury, metal halide and sodium lamps.
We can provide specialised lamp recycling containers for businesses to keep on site. These will be tailored to suit the volume of bulbs to be recycled, the available space, and the collection frequency.
